Great idea. I've actually offered that to their leader who is doing an amazing job with them in small group. They're just more interested in hanging out outside. We'll get them, eventually. We're going to keep making hanging out outside less attractive as much as possible.

You may want to try including them in the program also. Have them read, sing, act, or even just hold up cue cards for someone else.

Thanks! This was a tough one because for about 5 minutes, I had everybody thinking I was a cold-hearted jerk until, near the end of the illustration, I pulled out the other Starbucks card. What made it worse was the victim - I mean volunteer - was a petite sweet girl who I appeared to be mean to. Knowing the outcome of the illustration helped me get through it.

Dennis,
we have laid down a very similar challenge at our church for our youth small groups this year. In years past we did have a few students lowering the bar for everyone else, this year have openly said we won't allow that to happen again. Now a few months in, we also have seen some pain and some reward from this decision, but I still think it was the right decision and well worth it.

This is great. I wish I had done something like it! Putting all of those expectations clearly on paper helps when the time comes to follow through. Well done, Dennis :o)
