Staying Put at Saddleback Church

I was supposed to fly to Atlanta to interview for a youth ministry position. The youth pastor was told he could bring me out for an interview. The pastor decided the church wouldn’t pay for the airfare after all.

God is good. We just came off two weeks of camp. Before camp, I was excited to fly out & take this ministry opportunity. It’s what I’ve been looking for over the last 10 years. However, at camp my heart felt called to work with my cabin guys in small group during the upcoming school year.

I was torn between getting my ideal ministry job or following what I felt led to do with my students. I’m happy to say my volunteer days aren’t over. I’ll be able to lead a small group for these guys starting in September.

  1. It’s cool to see how God works. I had a very similar experience work with me where God closed one door and opened another. Except this example had me moving and not staying. Hope your guys small group works out great!

  2. I love how things work out for the best. This is a big step of faith for me. I’m trusting that God has the income planned out & that he’ll keep me healthy or have a plan to meet my health & dental needs. However, the guys I’m going to be mentoring in small group are all super excited. There’s no question about my calling to lead them. I love being so dependant on God. He never disappoints.

  3. Awesome… I was already afraid, that I wouldnt be able to visit you anymore : )

  4. You’re awesome. You’d like Georgia. If you fly Delta, you’d probably stop in Atlanta, anyway. So when are you coming back?

  5. Great news, really glad God gave you clarity on this decision.
